MMK (18) Examination of the Soul

1. If the Soul really exists as a part of the five kinds of aggregates,
The real facts of appearance, disappearance, and maintenance of the Soul,
Must exist theoretically.

And if there exists something, which is different from the five kinds of aggregates,
It might be natural for the characteristic of something, which is different from the five kinds of aggregates, to exist.


2. How will it be possible for a fact that a person himself or herself is always moving with the Soul together, even in future actually?

A behavior not to consider our own happines only is the nearest way for us to emanscipate ourselves from our own egoism,
And relying upon our own attitude not to worry about even our own balanced state,
Myself and another myself will begin not to disturb with each other at all.


3. Even though the fact for us to lose our interest in fame and profit,
Might suggest for us to be released from a bondage of fame and profit,
However the real existence of such a fact can not be recognized by people sufficiently.

Even though to become not to be selfish is just the fact to be emancipated from bondage to egoism,
But actually speaking it is very rare for us to find such a person, who can recognize such a kind of important fact to recognise really.


4. Even though a word "my", or "I" is a word, which has been used for countlessly many years,
Those two words are similarly looking at myself from outside of me.

The attitude to hold off me from myself seems to be included in my own Action,
And just at the place where I have got rid of such an attitude,
A kind of mental faculties and territories to bear some thing exists.


5. To live in both Action and Delusion are just emancipations,
And it is true for Action and Delusion to manifest themselves reciprocally in real situations.

Both Action and Delusion are prone to develope themselves overcoming themselves,
And in the conditions of being balanced, both Action and Delusion will become the objects of self-regulation actually.


6. The problem, which is related with the Soul, is rather a kind of disclosure, from which we are usually being kept from its secret,
And frankly speaking, what is perfectly different from the Soul, is the contents of the true teachings.

Relying upon the opinions of many people, who have got the true teachings,
What is called the Soul does not exist in the real world at all,
And relating with the negation of the Soul, actually speaking, the insistence that there is no problem of the Soul at all is just the true teachings.


7. The abstract world is just the world, which has been described utilizing only words,
Therefore the abstract world is just the world, which were as if the world like a pasture, which can be thought only relying upon supposition in our brain.

The world, which can not manifest itself by utilizing any form, might be the world, which would be never disturbed by others at all,
And so just the world, which has been keeping the quiet and serene state relying upon the balanced autonomic nervous system,
Must be just the world, which has been governed really by the principle of the Universe itself.


8. The whole things and phenomena must belong inevitably to the one of the possibility between the two, that is, whether they really exist, or not,
Therefore either they really exist, or not, there is no difference between the two on the basis of the substance.

This place, where we are just standing on, can not be said "it does not exist," but at the same time it is also impossible for us to say "it exists really."
The insistence like this is just Gautama Buddha's teaching.


9. The true teaching, which can never be the teachings to be overcome by other teachings,
And at the same time it is completely impossible for any teaching to follow on the true one at all.,
The true teaching, which has excellent flexibility,
Has excellently developed as teachings, but it has never been described through a wrong viewpoint at all.

The teaching does not have any kind of doubt at all,
But at the same time it does not have any aim other than the true teaching itself,
And it is just the Reality itself in this world, and at the same time it is manifesting characteristics in the Reality actually.


10. Something perfectly clear exists as something perfectly clear in front of us.
The reason, why for me to say so, comes from the real facts that it is not always ture for every concrete thing to be seen as exactly the same at every moment.

What is different from the real thing is enormously different from the real thing,
Very similarly to such examples, the situations, which can not cut off, are fundamentally different from the situations, which are absolutely eternal.


11. Not only for one aim, neither having no aim,
Not being instantaneous, neither being eternal,

To this world, which has those characters above,
Many people, who have got the Truth, have been keeping reverences by themselves so much as educators.


12. Even though ideas of the Soul do not have any influence to people called Buddhas, who have got the total Truth already,
People called Sravakas, who are diligent to study Buddhism theoretically,
Are not so positive to the ideas of the Soul.

And for people called Pratyeka-buddhas, who revere natural circumstances,
The knowledge of the Soul might be increasing their learning,
But for them to rely upon transcending their situations, which do not have influenced by mixing, their own progress has been tried further.
